The Role
We are looking for someone curious about packaging with good problem‑solving skills, a passion for sustainability and a willingness to learn, to join our growing business in a newly created role. The right person will be a highly motivated individual with an interest in building a career in packaging within the vibrant, varied and exciting world of confectionery in Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG).
As part of the development team and reporting to the Packaging Development Manager, you will play a key role in an expanding packaging team, working closely with product developers to create innovative, fit‑for‑purpose, commercially viable and responsible packaging solutions. Learning opportunities will be provided and you will be encouraged to develop your skills and grow into an evolving role.
The Detail
As our Packaging Developer you will need to be open to new ideas to meet business requirements and create market‑leading packaging in a highly innovative sector. Your key responsibilities will include:
* Creating visual and physical mock‑ups for customer presentations.
* Attending print runs when required and signing off proofs for key projects to ensure smooth delivery of high‑quality packaging.
* Building relationships with key packaging suppliers and manufacturing partners and liaising with our customer print and packaging contacts to ensure the process is aligned and smooth from concept to launch.
* Managing technical aspects of packaging development, including requesting the right first‑time cutter guides, print information, packaging specifications and relevant compliance information to maintain our internal systems.
* Supporting the transit test process to ensure all packaging is fit for purpose and robust.
* Keeping up to date with emerging packaging trends and new technologies for use when developing new packaging and regularly updating the team.
* Regularly reviewing current packaging and identifying where value can be optimised or current formats can be improved.
Other roles you will undertake include:
Helping the team prepare for key meetings with customers.
Feeding into the New Product Development (NPD) process as a key member of the development team.

Required Qualifications and Skills
* A Levels or Degree (desirable)
* An awareness of packaging and its increasing importance to retail products and the consumers who purchase them.
* A high level of creativity and knowledge of current and emerging trends, with a willingness to learn.
* Office productivity: Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel (Adobe Illustrator and CAD desirable).
* Full clean driving licence and own car (essential).
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to work in a team and confident in presenting internally and externally.
* Strong organisation with high attention to detail and the ability to work to tight deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
* Great team ethic and hard working attitude.
All applicants must have the right to work in the UK on an ongoing basis. We are looking for a driver as there will be opportunities to attend meetings out of the area, and the role is one day per week from home with four days in the office.
