An opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and committed Safeguarding and Compliance Officer to join our Education Effectiveness service area, as part of Children and Families Services. This position offers an exciting opportunity for a committed individual to work with our Safeguarding in Education team to deliver our training and support for education settings.
Demonstrable knowledge and an understanding of safeguarding in education, social work and Keeping Children Safe in Education will be an advantage.
Key responsibilities
* Develop the awareness of safeguarding and child protection processes in schools, central services and other educational settings (e.g. Further Education Colleges).
* Maintain and deliver a programme for child protection/safeguarding in education training.
* Co‑ordinate, schedule, advertise and organise the safeguarding training programme.
* Ensure courses are evaluated and the Safeguarding and Compliance Lead is supported to adapt as required.
* Contribute to a range of initiatives to strengthen safeguarding, such as E‑safety, work related learning, ensuring compliance with safeguarding responsibilities etc.
* Liaison with Business Support and work with the Safeguarding and Compliance Lead to ensure actions are on‑track when delivering training.
* Maintain close contact with other Safeguarding Unit staff and contribute to general Service activity.
An enhanced with barred list DBS check is required for this post.

About You
The Safeguarding and Compliance Officer will play an integral role, as part of the Education Effectiveness Team, alongside settings working with children and young people, the LADO and social care in keeping all children safe and protected from harm or neglect.
To apply for this post you must:
* Have a working knowledge of child protection/safeguarding of children and young people
* Have considerable experience of working with children and/or families
* Have experience of inter‑agency working to support children and/or families
* Be able to deal with sensitive issues with diplomacy and tact
* Have a pragmatic approach
* Have effective communication skills
* Be energetic, well‑motivated and flexible with a professional manner and plenty of common sense
