About the Team:
The Technology Group is responsible for the effective delivery, management, and services of all technology disciplines within the air navigation services environment. This includes Oceanic and Domestic Air Traffic Management, Security, a National MPLS Network, National Operations/Maintenance, Specialist Support, Information Technology, Service Management, Project Delivery/Flight Inspection, and National Engineering.
The IT & Service Management team reports to the IT & Service Management Manager, alongside peers such as the National IT Operations Manager, the Enterprise Applications Manager, the IT Service Assurance Manager, and the Service Desk Vendor Manager.
About the Role:
We have a newly created, permanent full-time opportunity for a Data and Analytics Architect to join us in Auckland (airport) or Christchurch (Burnside). This role involves both hands-on functional tasks and strategic responsibilities to ensure our data is reliable, accessible, secure, and aligned with business objectives.
You will develop, design, implement, and maintain the organization’s data architecture, including data models, schemas, and data flow design to support a centralized data function. You will also establish and maintain a robust governance framework, policies, and standards to ensure alignment with business needs, security best practices, and regulatory compliance. Additionally, you will provide technical direction and oversight to enterprise application and platform teams, ensuring architectural consistency, adherence to best practices, and continuous improvement of performance and reliability. About You:
To succeed, you’ll have a deep understanding of data modeling, data governance, and integration best practices. You will also possess:
* A relevant tertiary degree in IT, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field.
* Approximately 10 years’ experience in data management, including at least three (3) years in an architecture role.
* Design and development experience building data solutions using MS Fabric (non-negotiable), Power BI, dataflows, Data Factory, and lakehouse architecture.
* Experience with Azure Synapse, Dataverse, and broader Azure Data Services (e.g., Azure SQL, Azure Data Lake, Azure Purview).
* Experience with resource allocation, budgeting, timeline management, and data-driven decision making.
* Knowledge of data modeling, data warehousing, and ETL processes.
* Experience with database technologies (e.g., SQL, NoSQL, cloud data platforms).
* Ability to work in a dynamic team and business environment, collaborate effectively, demonstrate resilience and agility, take ownership, and focus on delivering successful outcomes.
Beneficial:
* Understanding of security principles, risk management, and compliance requirements.
