Overview
We have an excellent opportunity for a Senior Failure Analysis Manager to join our Operations team in Sedgefield/Durham and support the company's growth. Reporting to the VP Quality and Reliability, this is a key role which will be responsible for continually driving the foundations and development of a highly-performing FA and Device Characterisation team.
Our Failure Analysis department is evolving as a highly-efficient, state-of-the-art facility which provides characterisation and analytical services and also deals with customer returns. Key partners internally will include Production Engineering, Process Integration, Yield Enhancement and Research and Development, as well as others.
The Failure Analysis department is a vital tool in ensuring that the business achieves its objectives; therefore we are looking for candidates with the ability to collaborate effectively through excellent communication across functions. The role combines technical, hands-on work alongside the managerial responsibilities of leading and developing the FA team. This is an excellent opportunity to grow the FA function and have a key impact on our technology goals.
The role is based in the North East of England, initially at our Sedgefield site and longer-term at Pragmatic Park, our manufacturing facility in Durham. Candidates must therefore be based in, or willing to relocate to, the North East of England. Visa sponsorship and relocation assistance will be available.
Key tasks
Management and coordination of projects that ensures the Failure Analysis team meets the overall technical delivery of the team remit
Provide excellent line management to the Failure Analysis team through effective technical and people leadership
Grow Failure Analysis, Device Characterisation and Customer Returns services both internally as well as externally through effective partnerships
Provide associated technical documentation and reporting against Team Milestones across the business, including directly to the Technical Leadership Team
Within the team, help to develop and evolve novel scientific techniques to consistently deliver effective FA solutions
Qualifications and training
The successful candidate will be educated to degree or postgraduate degree level within a scientific or engineering discipline (or possess equivalent experience) and will demonstrate a technical background in Failure Analysis, Device Characterisation and/or Analytical sciences.
Skills and experience
Technical expertise and experience of Failure Analysis and Analytical Characterisation techniques (essential)
Expertise in analysis and fault-finding of Integrated Circuits (desirable)
Semiconductor industry experience, or sector experience with similar FA service requirements (essential)
Programme / Project Management and coordination (desirable)
Previous experience in managing and developing a team (desirable)
Excellent cross-functional communication skills (essential)
Technical report writing / presenting skills (essential)
Mentoring and coaching skills (essential)
Previous experience in growing teams/lab services (advantage)
