An exciting opportunity has arisen within the newly completed Sterile Services Department at Stoke Mandeville Hospital.
As a Sterile Services Assistant, you will handle medical devices essential to surgical teams and patients' care plans.
Training will be provided on the complete decontamination and sterilisation cycle, including relevant legislation such as HTM01-01, ISO13485, and other quality standards.
Previous experience in Sterile Services is not required.
Hours are 37.5 per week, with a rolling day shift pattern or fixed night shift (to be discussed at interview). There is also a requirement to participate in on-call duties once fully trained.
You will be responsible for:
1. Exchanging information accurately with colleagues and customers to prioritise work and resolve problems.
2. Understanding routine work procedures requiring in-house training.
3. Maintaining knowledge of instruments across various surgical specialties.
4. Understanding decontamination procedures and safe operation of automated machinery.
5. Participating in on-call teams when trained.
6. Attending departmental lectures and hospital courses to meet health and safety standards.
7. Adhering to best practices at all times.
8. Performing daily maintenance of theatre instruments, dismantling, and re-assembling surgical instruments following instructions.
9. Maintaining records of instrumentation through data entry.
