Job Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic band 8a clinical pharmacist to join our Women’s and Neonates Pharmacy team at University College Hospital (UCH). You will be responsible for delivering a range of pharmacy services to the neonatal unit, maternity and fertility services, and participating in or leading quality and safety projects.


Responsibilities

On a daily basis you will work with a small team of pharmacists and a technician to deliver a comprehensive clinical pharmacy service to the EGA Wing, including neonatal ward rounds, coordination of neonatal parenteral nutrition and CIVAS items, staff education, medicines management for maternity patients, and service delivery to high quality standards. You will also liaise with the Women's Health Division, maintain and build upon the current service, and lead additional divisional responsibilities such as governance, medicines expenditure analysis, cost‑improvement programmes, service evaluation, multiprofessional education and training, and other strategic projects as required.


Qualifications & Experience

Essential:

* Masters of Pharmacy degree or equivalent
* Full registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
* Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a dedicated clinical pharmacist practitioner, including substantial post‑registration experience
* Six years post‑registration with the GPhC
* Diploma or MSc in Clinical Pharmacy (A, P)

Desirable:

* Undertaken management training courses

Management & Leadership Skills:

* Able to evaluate quality of own work and that of junior colleagues
* Identifies personal development needs and those of junior colleagues

Clinical & Interpersonal Skills:

* Can identify and undertake clinical audit
* Demonstrable use of clinical audit to improve practice

Education & Training Skills:

* Previous experience of delivering educational material within pharmacy
* Identifies own and others’ training needs and ensures they are met
* Previous experience in delivering education and training in a multidisciplinary environment (desirable)

Research & Development Skills:

* Participation in pharmacy practice research and implementation of relevant findings
* Demonstrates awareness of research evidence in neonatal care and women’s health and integrates it into practice
* Maintains a portfolio of practice
* Participation in multidisciplinary health services research (desirable)


Contract & Pay

Band 8a – £64,156 to £71,148 per annum inclusive of HCAS. Permanent, part‑time contract.
