Senior Endoscopy Decontamination Supervisor
The Senior Endoscopy Decontamination Supervisor will be responsible for endoscopy decontamination and equipment, providing advice to managers on the compliance of their equipment and decontamination processes with current standards for HHFT.
The post holder will play an active role in the Trust's decontamination services for endoscopy, with advice and guidance from the decontamination manager. They will provide a professional advisory role in line with national guidelines and be responsible for implementing all statutory, regulatory, and Trust requirements. This includes introducing, implementing, and managing work standards and practices, as well as managing risks consistent with clinical governance and JAG compliance.
The post holder will perform a full range of decontamination duties, be accountable for the work area within the endoscopy department, manage decontamination records, and interpret technical data and production reports. They will supervise, organize, and allocate work, and train less experienced staff.
They will assist in developing the department's standard operating procedures in accordance with quality management systems and ensure staff compliance. The role requires planning workload and working with minimal managerial direction.
The supervisor will ensure the delivery of a flexible endoscope decontamination service within professional standards, maintain equipment as per regulatory standards, and validate engineer test reports for safe use.
Developing a culture of quality improvement within the service, managing all endoscopy equipment (including training, repairs, and procurement), and ensuring compliance with laws related to the transportation of dangerous goods are key responsibilities.
The supervisor will maintain and develop their professional development, including mandatory training, manage the service within budget, support cost efficiencies, and ensure value for money.
They will attend endoscopy user group meetings, facilitate regular team meetings, evaluate equipment usage, and monitor workload, performance, and targets.
