An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Sales Assistant to join the Vintage Sales team on a 12 month fixed term contract. With a catalogue of over 6,000 titles, Vintage publishes some of the world's most thought-provoking, unforgettable, beautifully designed books - from contemporary trailblazers to our red-spine Vintage Classics. This means that our broad family of authors ranges from world-class prize-winners to emerging talent, including Nigella Lawson, Toni Morrison, Margaret Atwood, Jo Nesbo, Rukmini Iyer, Gabrielle Zevin and Ian McEwan. This is an administrative role in a busy sales department, reporting into the Sales Manager and working closely with the Key Account Managers in the team. You'll play an important role in assisting with the smooth running of the Vintage Sales team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is looking to gain valuable experience in a role which offers autonomy, independence, and responsibility. Responsibilities will include: Supporting the Key Account Managers and Sales Manager in a range of tasks including preparing sales materials, delivering sales reports, and working on sales grids for retailers Assisting the team with managing orders, monitoring and analysing sales and market shares Operating as a contact for key external stakeholders. Working with the Waterstones KAM on outreach to Waterstones booksellers, including our Vintage Huddle X account. Providing other relevant administrative support for the team on an ad hoc basis. This is a varied and busy support role; no two days will be the same and you'll need to be able to think quickly on your feet. The job includes liaising with customers, colleagues from the wider Sales team and the Vintage division, so you'll need to be flexible in your approach and have excellent written and interpersonal communication skills. You'll be able to prioritise a busy workload effectively while still maintaining a keen eye for detail and delivering to deadlines. What you'll bring: As UK Sales Assistant, you'll have an interest in how we sell our books to Trade customers in the UK, bringing to the role excellent numeracy and administrative skills and the ability to pick up new systems quickly, as you'll be working with systems which include Biblio, SAP and Excel. A sound knowledge of Microsoft Office would be an advantage, as well as a positive energy and eagerness to learn.
