Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity to provide leadership to the Hazardous Waste team, overseeing the day-to-day activities of the regime. This role involves supporting regulatory reform efforts and assisting the team in transitioning from reform to ‘business as usual’.
The key duties and responsibilities include:
1. Providing technical leadership on waste classification
2. Leading Hazardous Waste compliance initiatives and internal improvement projects
3. Enhancing leadership on priority waste streams
4. Offering technical support focused on priority waste streams, aligned with area and national teams
5. Addressing regulatory challenges, improving the regulatory regime, and supporting Defra’s circular economy initiatives for Hazardous Waste
6. Focusing on Hazardous Waste enforcement to support actions outlined in the control strategy aimed at reducing offending
The team
The Environment & Business (E&B) Hazardous Waste team is a small, high-performing unit within the Regime Regulation team of E&B Waste Regulation. We lead on hazardous waste management, supporting government, industry, and colleagues to ensure proper handling of hazardous waste.

Additional information
You will have an inclusive incident management objective in your development plan. The role offers flexible/hybrid working arrangements, with an EA Office base location. Some travel and overnight stays may be required.
