1:1 Learning Support Assistant

Academics is working in partnership with a supportive and inclusive schools in the Lichfield area to recruit a compassionate and reliable 1:1 Learning Support Assistants. This is a full-time, long-term position through our agency, with the possibility of a permanent role for the right individual.
The Role:
As a 1:1 Learning Support Assistant, you will be providing tailored support to a specific pupil with additional learning needs. The child may have a diagnosis of autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, or other special educational needs that require individualised support in and out of the classroom.
Key responsibilities will include:
Delivering 1:1 support to a named pupil during lessons, helping them to access the curriculum at their level.
Using a range of visual aids, structured routines, and supportive strategies to maintain engagement and support understanding.
Supporting the pupil's emotional regulation, wellbeing, and social skills development.
Encouraging independence and confidence through consistent praise, patience, and scaffolding techniques.
Helping the pupil navigate transitions and unstructured times (e.g. break and lunch), providing reassurance and routine.Ideal Candidate:
Experienced in supporting children with special educational needs in a school or similar setting.
Able to build strong, trusting relationships with children and act as a positive role model.
Patient, calm, and understanding, with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Flexible and responsive to the needs of individual children.
Knowledgeable of (or willing to learn about) autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, or other common SEND presentations.
A valid, enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or willing to apply for one via Academics).What We Offer:
