Location: Bristol Type: Full-time, Permanent Salary: Competitive benefits (depending on experience) About the Role We are seeking a motivated and commercially aware Transport Planner to join our Development Planning team in Bristol. The successful candidate will support the delivery of transport planning projects across residential, commercial, mixed-use, education, and regeneration developments throughout the South West and wider UK. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with developers, local authorities, architects, and multidisciplinary engineering teams to deliver innovative and sustainable transport solutions that support planning applications and strategic development objectives. Key Responsibilities Prepare Transport Assessments, Transport Statements, Travel Plans, and technical notes to support planning applications. Undertake junction capacity assessments and traffic modelling using industry-standard software such as Junctions 10, LinSig, and TRICS. Analyse transport and travel data to inform development planning strategies. Support site appraisals and feasibility studies for new development opportunities. Liaise with clients, local authorities, and other stakeholders throughout the planning process. Assist in the preparation of access strategies and sustainable transport proposals. Contribute to project management activities including programme coordination and budget monitoring. Support public consultation events and stakeholder engagement where required. Stay informed on planning policy, transport guidance, and emerging best practice. Requirements Degree in Transport Planning, Civil Engineering, Geography, Urban Planning, or a related discipline. Experience in development planning transport consultancy or a similar environment. Understanding of UK planning policy and transport assessment guidance. Familiarity with transport modelling and junction assessment software. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including report writing. Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and transport planning software packages. Membership of, or willingness to work towards membership of, a relevant professional institution such as the Chartered Institution of Highways & Transportation (CIHT) or Transport Planning Society (TPS). Desirable Skills Experience working on projects within the South West region. Knowledge of active travel, sustainable transport, and decarbonisation initiatives. GIS or data visualisation experience.
