Position: Practice Manager - Duty and Assessment Team Social Worker

Job Description: We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Practice Manager to lead our Duty and Assessment Team Social Workers. As a Practice Manager, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of the team, ensuring that high standards of practice are maintained and that service users receive timely and effective support. This role involves both managerial responsibilities and direct involvement in casework, requiring strong leadership skills and a sound understanding of social work principles and legislation.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead and supervise a team of social workers and support staff within the Duty and Assessment Team, providing guidance, support, and professional development opportunities.
2. Oversee the allocation of cases and manage workload distribution to ensure that referrals are responded to promptly and assessments are conducted within statutory timescales.
3. Monitor the quality of assessments and interventions, providing regular feedback and guidance to staff to promote best practice and adherence to relevant policies and procedures.
4. Collaborate with partner agencies, including health professionals, law enforcement, and community organisations, to coordinate multi-agency responses and safeguarding measures.
5. Conduct complex assessments and support front line social workers in managing high-risk cases, providing expert advice and consultation as needed.
6. Participate in case conferences, court proceedings, and other meetings to represent the interests of service users and ensure that their needs are appropriately addressed.
7. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of casework, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and data protection regulations.
8. Contribute to service development initiatives, policy reviews, and quality improvement projects to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of the Duty and Assessment Team.
Qualifications and Experience:
9. Qualified Social Worker with current registration with Social Work England.
10. Significant experience working in children's and/or adults' services, with a focus on duty and assessment.
11. Previous supervisory or managerial experience in a social work setting, demonstrating leadership skills and the ability to motivate and support staff.
12. Thorough understanding of relevant legislation, policies, and procedures governing social work practice, particularly in relation to safeguarding and child protection.
13. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and decision-making skills, with the ability to work effectively under pressure and manage competing priorities.
14. Commitment to continuous professional development and ongoing learning to stay abreast of changes in social work practice and policy.
