The Role
The Disability and Inclusion Manager is a key role in the management and delivery of support services for students with disabilities and long-term medical conditions. They are committed to ensuring that students can fully engage with their studies and achieve success throughout their time at university and beyond, by providing support, removing barriers to education, and developing inclusive learning and teaching practices.
The role-holder directly contributes to strategy and initiatives promoting inclusion, as well as providing support and guidance to students and staff on matters relating to disabilities, including reasonable adjustments, DSA, and external support. The Disability and Inclusion Manager will maintain up-to-date knowledge of opportunities and challenges around disability and inclusion relevant to higher education, providing insight and guidance to the wider university to ensure best practices are followed. The role also holds line management responsibility for a Disability and Inclusion Adviser.
Skills and Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have experience working in disability support, preferably in higher education, and knowledge of various support and funding mechanisms for students studying at university in the UK.
Experience in developing policies, processes, and procedures is important for this role, as is the ability to create positive working relationships with staff and students.
