A groundbreaking start-up working on novel DNA/RNA sequencing technology is recruiting for their next Lead Scientist to join its team based in Edinburgh on a permanent basis. The company has just closed out their pre-series A funding round and is investing heavily into all areas of their team as they look to release their product for clinical studies.
As their Lead Scientist, you will act as Project Lead when it comes to carrying out essential RNA and transcriptomic research – whilst having the ability to delegate tasks, monitor progress and oversee the performance of other Scientists in your team.
Lead Scientist responsibilities
• Lead the efforts in carrying out scientific research within a project
• Manage the project, set goals, delegate tasks, monitor progress, and oversee the performance of other scientists and workers involved in the project
• Liaise with external collaborators, such as clinical teams
• Uphold the laboratory's regulations and policies to maintain a safe and productive work environment
Lead Scientist requirements
• PhD in genomics or a related subject
• Proven experience gained in either an academic or industrial environment focusing on relevant research fields
• Demonstrated experience in leading or participating in large-scale scientific studies
• Experience of working with RNA – high-throughput/long-read sequencing.
• Proficiency in laboratory skills, including transcriptomic and/or genomic library construction and sequencing
• Excellent organizational skills and willingness to take on responsibility
• Proven experience in scientific writing and presentation
