Overview
Independent Social Worker (Form F Assessor) (Grade 8). Description: We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Independent Social Worker (Form F Assessor) to join our team. This role involves conducting Form F assessments to support children’s placement decisions and welfare within the care system. The successful candidate will work independently to evaluate and report on the suitability of prospective foster carers, providing insights that inform panel and agency decisions. The role requires knowledge of child welfare legislation, strong assessment skills, and the ability to manage sensitive information with professionalism and confidentiality. You will collaborate with local authorities, foster agencies, and families to promote the best interests of children and contribute to safe, nurturing environments for vulnerable children and young people.
Responsibilities
* Conduct thorough Form F assessments of prospective foster carers in line with statutory guidance and agency policies.
* Prepare detailed and evidence-based reports to support panel decision‑making processes.
* Engage sensitively with children, foster carers, birth families, and professionals during assessments.
* Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, regulations, and safeguarding procedures at all times.
* Maintain accurate records and documentation in a timely and confidential manner.
* Work independently while collaborating with local authorities, agencies, and multidisciplinary teams.
* Provide expert advice and recommendations regarding foster carer suitability and placement stability.
Requirements
* Qualified and registered social worker with current HCPC registration.
* Proven experience conducting independent Form F assessments or equivalent fostering assessments.
* In-depth knowledge of child welfare legislation, fostering regulations, and safeguarding.
* Strong analytical and report-writing skills with attention to detail.
* Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively to meet deadlines.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to engage with diverse stakeholders.
* Commitment to upholding the rights and best interests of children and young people.
