PrepWorld is a fast-growing prepared fruit business supplying the major UK retailers and requires a Junior Finance Analyst to support the Financial Analysis team, with a focus on partnering with the Procurement Team. Reporting into the Senior Finance Business Partner, the role will provide insight and challenge on costs, performance and opportunities, supporting forward planning and decision-making across Procurement and Operations. Main Duties The role supports the Financial Analysis team by providing analytical and commercial finance support to the Procurement Team, taking ownership of reporting and insight, and driving continuous improvement in cost and yield visibility. Key Relationships Proactive partnering with the wider Procurement function (stock, technical, planning, buyers), providing insight and challenge Working closely with Production to understand the operational drivers of material cost, yield and usage Working with the wider business to analyse and report on performance drivers and KPIs Supporting the Financial Analysis Team with scheduled reporting and ad hoc insight as required Key Accountabilities Procurement Support Support the Procurement Team with finance insight and constructive challenge, escalating issues as needed Maintain and update the Procurement dashboard, producing monthly variance analysis and supporting clear actions Support improvements to yield reporting, helping ensure outputs are accurate, timely and useful to the business Assist with yield analysis reporting in Power BI (Power BI support provided by IT) Support the implementation and ongoing development of operational yield reporting Work closely with Procurement and Production to build operational knowledge and support aligned actions on cost and yield performance FAT Support Own the weekly financial reporting process, including live cost of fruit and yield analysis, highlighting risks and opportunities Maintain the Balanced Scorecard to share performance information across the business, with a view to developing reporting through Power BI over time Support recommended cost increases (annual and ad hoc) by building/refreshing assumptions and helping communicate the story clearly Delivery and Development of the Finance Function / Service Contribute to cross-functional reporting and business improvement projects, taking on agreed tasks and actions Support robust financial controls by following processes and flagging control issues promptly Support training and knowledge sharing, particularly in Excel Month and Year End Activities Own 3-month and full-year cost of materials forecasts, including maintaining key assumptions and risks Own budgets, reforecasts and year-end activities for materials, including helping improve the process to break out landed cost into key headings Company Initiatives and Compliance Comply with all legal and statutory obligations applicable to the role Be flexible in undertaking duties that reasonably correspond to the general character of the job and level of responsibility Support company initiatives and demonstrate company values at all times Take responsibility for Health and Safety of yourself and others whilst at work and comply with company policies and legislation Maintain personal and professional development and participate in appropriate learning and development activities Qualifications Degree (minimum 2:1 or equivalent) in a relevant subject Foundation level CIMA, ACA or equivalent or a desire to study towards a professional accountancy qualification (desirable) Relevant experience within a similar role (desirable) Specific Knowledge & Experience Strong attention to detail and analytical skills; confident interpreting and presenting data to non-finance stakeholders Analytical thinking and problem-solving skills, with experience of root-cause analysis and turning insights into recommendations Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence, challenge and build relationships with stakeholders across functions Proven time management skills; accustomed to meeting time-critical deadlines and prioritising a varied workload Strong IT skills – advanced Excel (e.g., lookups, IFs, PivotTables; VBA desirable) and experience with Power BI (desirable) Role Requirements and Compliance Company initiatives and compliance To comply with all legal and statutory requirements applicable to the role.
