Technical Assurance Engineer

A leading organisation in the UK water sector is seeking a Technical Assurance Engineer to join their Engineering Assurance team.
This is a key role supporting the delivery of major water and wastewater infrastructure projects, ensuring that all technical outputs meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and compliance. You’ll work closely with internal engineering teams and framework partners to provide independent assurance, drive consistency, and promote engineering excellence across the project portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide technical assurance throughout the design and delivery phases of capital projects.
* Review and verify engineering designs, specifications, and calculations for compliance with company standards and statutory requirements.
* Support the development and continuous improvement of technical assurance frameworks and quality management systems.
* Conduct design reviews, audits, and risk assessments, identifying and resolving technical issues early in the process.
* Collaborate with project teams, consultants, and delivery partners to ensure best practice and consistency in design outputs.
* Ensure designs align with asset performance, resilience, and lifecycle objectives.
* Provide guidance and mentorship to engineering colleagues on assurance processes and technical governance.
* Contribute to the implementation of digital assurance tools and systems to enhance project oversight.
About You
* Degree (or equivalent) in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or Process Engineering.
* Chartered Engineer (CEng) or working towards professional registration (ICE, IMechE, CIWEM, or similar).
* Experience in design assurance, technical governance, or quality assurance within the water or regulated infrastructure sectors.
* Strong understanding of industry standards and regulations (e.g., WIMES, BS/EN, CDM Regulations).
* Knowledge of ISO 9001 quality systems and experience implementing or auditing technical assurance processes.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
* Analytical, detail-focused, and proactive in driving continuous improvement.
