CODE Student Accommodation and Leicester Lettings design, build, rent and manage student and professional accommodation. We are a rapidly expanding award-winning business with an extensive property portfolio in the centres of both Leicester and Coventry, with growth in new cities planned over the next few years. Such growth demands a strong Head of Accounts.
The successful candidate will lead the finance department within the business and drive it forward with effective budgetary control. They will be a strong team leader with exceptional attention to detail.
Previous experience in the property sector is a distinct advantage, but not essential. You will be responsible for:
Accounting
* Cost accounting
* Overseeing bank reconciliation
* Ensure all balance sheets are fully reconciled
* Issue financial statements
* Month-end close process
Management Reporting
* Design & development management reports
* Production of monthly management accounts within 14 days of month-end
Financial Analysis
* Develop & maintain performance measurements
Controls / Audits
* Design and review financial policies and procedures
* Review internal financial control systems
* Prepare audit information as required
* Ensure accurate and timely VAT Returns in line with accounting timelines
Strategic Planning
* Participate in strategic financial planning
* Internal control strategy
* Functional Management
* Line management of the finance team
* Oversee accounts receivable / payable / billings
* Will be required to process the payroll on Sage and deal with the company pension scheme (or ensure this is processed efficiently within the team)
Budgeting / Forecasting
* Develop budget targets and other financial plans
* To monitor and update forecasts to guide accurate financial planning and delivery

* An ACCA or CIMA qualification or equivalent
* People management experience
* Effective project management and adherence to tight timescales
* Legal compliance
* Working knowledge of payroll and pension schemes
* Have a hands-on approach
* Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
* Ability to work cross-functionally to deliver results in support of all areas of the business
Please note this is an office based role.
The ideal candidate will show honesty, integrity, and reliability and have solid written and verbal communication skills. They will have strong analytical and organisational skills and great attention to detail. They will be excellent at working with Excel spreadsheets, Microsoft Office, and Sage.
