Birkbeck, University of London, is looking for an experienced Lecturer to join our teaching team and help shape our future going forwards.
We are seeking to appoint an Autumn-term (four month), full-time Lecturer in Renaissance Art History, with expertise on Northern Europe on a salary of £43,636 rising to £60,018 per annum.
Based in the School of Historical Studies, you will deliver undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in Renaissance Art History, as well as contributing to broader introductory and skills-based teaching. You will also contribute to academic administrative work in the School.
As Lecturer, you will convene and deliver the Autumn term lectures for the team-taught Level 4 module, ‘The Artwork in History’, and contribute lectures to the team-taught Level 5 module, ‘Art and Devotion in the Middle Ages and Renaissance’.
You will also convene the L6 dissertation module and deliver 2 to 3 lectures as part of the Level 7 module, ‘Frameworks: Histories and Theories of Art, Architecture, Photography’. In addition, you will be required to supervise both BA and MA Dissertations, and other student research projects and provide pastoral support as student tutor. You will also be encouraged to become involved in the Murray Seminar on Medieval and Renaissance Art series.
Applications are invited from candidates with teaching and education expertise in Renaissance Art History. You should have:
* A PhD (or equivalent level) in an appropriate specialism or to be close to completion.
* A good developing track record of research in the field.
* Teaching experience at undergraduate, and ideally also postgraduate level.
* A good understanding of different teaching and learning methods, and experience in working with students from a range of backgrounds.
* Effective communication skills and good organisation and administration skills.

Salary And Benefits
£43,636 rising to £60,018 per annum. Grade LLEC, quoted is on the College's London Pay Scale which includes a consolidated Weighting/Allowance which applies only to staff whose normal contractual place of work is in the London area.
