To work for Rolls-Royce you may need a BPSS, and in some cases hold a Security Check (SC) clearance. Rolls-Royce will support the application for Security Clearance if you do not currently have it. Due to the nature of the work and protection of assets, for some roles you must hold UK nationality.
Responsibilities
* Apply systems engineering principles to investigate and resolve complex problems across safety, quality, customer and business requirements.
* Define and interpret technical requirements, product documentation and verification strategies across the full product lifecycle.
* Engineer and integrate complex systems (electro, fluid, thermal, mechanical), considering interactions from component to platform level.
* Develop innovative, optimised solutions using new technologies, managing risk in a highly regulated environment.
* Support validation and verification activities, including justification for release to service, and provide technical backing for in-service products.
What you will be doing at Rolls-Royce Defence (Bristol, hybrid working): you will work with stakeholders to extract and define technical requirements, develop innovative solutions, and shape verification strategies across the product lifecycle. You will contribute to mature in-service programmes to keep current products safe and effective, or to future programmes such as the Global Combat Air Programme (GCAP). This role involves applying systems thinking and creative problem-solving in a fast-paced, mission-critical environment to deliver cutting-edge capability for future defence projects.
Qualifications
* A background in engineering, ideally supported by a degree or equivalent experience. Professional membership and working towards (or already holding) Chartered status is beneficial but not essential.
* Strong technical knowledge across design methodologies (e.g. V-model, Model-Based Systems Engineering) and cross-discipline concepts such as manufacturing, aerodynamics, thermodynamics, mechanical analysis, and product definition.
* The ability to analyse complex technical challenges, apply logical and innovative thinking, and make sound decisions balancing technical and business factors.
* Familiarity with product integrity, reliability, and certification frameworks within highly regulated environments.
* Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to engage effectively at all levels of the organisation.
