Job Description:
This role involves developing and delivering benefits, monitoring, and evaluation activities for STEP, supporting the development of a robust evidence-base to demonstrate the program's value and impact on the UK fusion strategy. The Benefits and Impact Specialist will work within the Business Strategy team, supporting the Benefits, Monitoring, and Evaluation Lead to generate timely, fit-for-purpose evidence and insights, build databases of evidence, promote benefit identification, and support evaluations to understand and demonstrate the program's impact. The role requires engagement across all aspects of the STEP program and interface with government processes for project funding and delivery.
Key Accountabilities:
1. Provide the Evidence-Base for Policy and Decision Making: Design, deliver, and manage research projects; undertake qualitative, quantitative, and mixed methods research; build and manage data collection; provide training and mentoring.
2. Deliver Impactful Products: Produce research reports, briefings, and contribute to business cases; respond to ad-hoc evidence requests; peer review reports and presentations.
3. Build a Strong Network: Build relationships across STEP, UKAEA, and government teams; support engagement and collaboration; assist in project reporting and governance.
4. Embody a Leadership Mindset: Demonstrate leadership behaviours, foster a positive team environment, promote diversity, and act as a cultural ambassador; lead by example and support change management.
Qualifications:
Essential:
* Experience with programme benefits and/or monitoring and evaluation.
* Experience with data management and analysis.
* Ability to understand complex issues and communicate effectively to non-technical audiences.
* Strong interpersonal skills and confidence in stakeholder engagement.
* Adaptability to changing demands and priorities.
Desirable:
* Experience with large-scale evaluations and complex programmes.
* Experience working with government stakeholders and in multidisciplinary environments.
* Experience with emerging or disruptive technologies.
* Ability to train, coach, and develop team members.
