The role
We have a growing fleet of artic and skip wagons, including our HVO wagon! As a result, we are looking for a skilled HGV Mechanic to expand our small, but dedicated, workshop team, and undertake regular inspections, proactive maintenance and reactive repairs.
The role
plan and carry out repairs/maintenance and servicing of our fleet vehicles and trailers
co-ordinate maintenance activity and achieve timely, prioritised maintenance, repair and servicing, working in partnership with the transport management team
investigate and diagnose faults, report findings and carry out all repairs to manufacturer's standards
ensure that parts, materials and tools are ordered and stocks maintained as required
inspect tyres/wheels for damages/defects and replace or repair as required
carry out regular inspections of fleet vehicle tyres and wheels, arranging replacement or repair as required
What you need
relevant qualification in HGV repair and maintenance, or compensating work experience
skilled in the maintenance of a wide variety of vehicles, plant and machinery, including the safe use of appropriate tools and equipment
good understanding of HGV service and maintenance requirements
proficient in diagnosis and repairs to hydraulic, mechanical and electrical systems
excellent communications skills with the ability to build good working relationships at all levels, both internally and externally
a full, clean driving licence
valid Category C licence would be advantageous, but not essential
The package
Competitive rate of pay, depending on experience
45 hours per week, Monday to Friday (alternating weekly 6am-4pm / 10am-8pm)
1 in 2 Saturdays, 7am-12pm paid extra
