The role
As a Mechanical Supervisor, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. Your expertise ensures the safety, reliability, and performance of cutting-edge aircraft, making a real impact in a highly specialised environment.
Day-to-day, you’ll have the following responsibilities:
1. Review operational performance of aircraft systems and components
2. Analyse and diagnose faults, apply technical knowledge to repair, modify, or improve procedures
3. Ensure team meets maintenance schedules, resolve issues, and escalate when necessary
4. Maintain personal and team competencies for aircraft/component work
5. Demonstrate flexibility and proactive attitude, follow direction appropriately.
This role is full time working 36 hours per week and is based on site at RAF Valley, Wales.
Essential experience of the Mechanical Supervisor:
6. Proven and competent leader with a strong track record at this level
7. Fully qualified technician with all required authorities and certifications in place
8. Demonstrates breadth of experience, currency, and recency, supported by a comprehensive logbook of skills, knowledge, and authorisations
9. Solid foundation in trade principles, complemented by practical expertise in maintenance and diagnostics
10. Extensive experience in applying aviation safety standards and ensuring safe operating practices.
Qualifications for the Mechanical Supervisor:
11. Completed an Engineering Apprenticeship, ideally in Aeronautical Engineering or a recognised military equivalent
12. Holds a minimum academic qualification of City & Guilds or in Aeronautical Engineering and Maintenance, or an equivalent certification
13. Strong technical foundation with practical experience gained through structured training and hands on application.
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Standard (BPSS) security clearance for this role.
