Overview
The Commissioning Engineer/Inspector plays a hands-on, site-based role ensuring that all mechanical and electrical elements of acoustic enclosure fit-out works meet client and internal quality requirements.
This position involves being physically present on the shop floor, actively inspecting works in progress, supporting fit-out teams, and addressing issues in real time to maintain build quality and prevent rework.
Key Responsibilities

Maintain a strong daily presence on the shop floor, carrying out real-time inspections on mechanical and electrical fit-out activities.

Attend morning production meetings to understand priorities and actively communicate current quality issues and risks.
*
Update quality trackers and route cards once inspections are completed, ensuring accurate and timely documentation.

Perform hands-on dimensional checks, physical inspections, and verification of installations in line with approved drawings, specifications, and quality standards.

Witness pressure testing of fuel tanks and associated pipework systems, completing and signing off relevant reports.
*
Verify torque settings on bolted connections in line with manufacturer and project requirements, completing documentation as required.

Carry out thorough visual and functional inspections of completed works using both internal and client inspection documentation.
*
Identify, document, and escalate non-conformances, working directly with fit-out teams to support corrective actions and prevent recurrence.
*
Review inspection test plans, quality records, and route card completion to ensure full compliance prior to project handover.
*
Liaise on-site with clients, contractors, commissioning teams, and other stakeholders to resolve quality issues promptly.

Support final inspection and handover processes, ensuring all quality documentation for fit-out projects is complete, accurate, and properly controlled.

Take ownership of quality performance on the shop floor, actively driving standards and promoting a right-first-time culture.
Required Experience
*
Experience within the data centre sector and/or acoustic enclosure systems is desirable.
*
Strong mechanical and electrical installation inspection background.
*
Familiarity with site-based quality control processes, inspection methods, and documentation requirements.
*
Practical, detail-focused, and methodical approach with the confidence to work independently across two active sites.
*
Comfortable working directly with production teams, identifying issues early, and driving proactive solutions
