Job Description
The Banqueting Sales Manager is responsible for contracting and closing local catering and social events, ensuring timely and quality service delivery. The role involves achieving catering revenue goals by actively upselling each opportunity, implementing the brand’s service strategy, and driving customer loyalty through service excellence:
1. Consistently offer professional, friendly, and engaging service.
2. Handle outdoor sales calls along with indoor calls.
3. Create and follow up on the marketing calendar for meetings, MICE business, social events, and wedding planners.
4. Provide exceptional concierge information about wedding services, available planners, options, and connections to wedding suppliers.
5. Develop and maintain strong relationships to ensure guest loyalty.
6. Maintain contacts with business partners, concessionaires, the local community, and counterparts.
7. Interact effectively with sales, kitchen, vendors, competitors, and other hotel departments to ensure guest satisfaction.
8. Use negotiation skills and creative selling to close deals and negotiate contracts.
9. Understand the market, including competitors’ strengths and weaknesses, economic trends, and supply and demand, to effectively sell against them.
10. Serve customers by understanding their needs and recommending features and services that meet and exceed their expectations, building loyalty.
11. Execute exemplary customer service to drive satisfaction and loyalty, assisting guests before and during their events.
12. Maximize revenue through up-selling packages and creative food and beverage options.
13. Assist guests regarding hotel facilities in an informative and helpful manner.
14. Address guest concerns promptly, logging and notifying the appropriate manager.
15. Coordinate and expedite guest requests according to priority.
16. Inspect suites/rooms and amenities to ensure standards are met and all requests are fulfilled.
17. Assist guests with account handling, check-outs, invoice processing, and collection of dues.
18. Manage sales efforts for the hotel, including local corporate and social catering.
19. Follow department policies, procedures, and service standards.
20. Develop menus with the head chef to drive sales.
21. Perform other duties as assigned to meet business needs.
Qualifications
* Previous customer service experience preferred.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Windows applications required.
* University/College degree in a related discipline is an asset.
* Professional presentation skills required.
* Outstanding guest service skills and sophisticated verbal and written communication skills.
* Strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities.
* Highly responsible and reliable.
* Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
* Ability to work cohesively as part of a team.
* Focus on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times.
