The Role:
We are seeking an enthusiastic, experienced, and highly motivated Nursery Deputy Manager to join our dedicated team in London. As Deputy Manager, you will play a pivotal role in the daily operation and strategic development of the nursery, supporting the Nursery Manager in ensuring the highest standards of care and education are consistently delivered. Key Responsibilities:
* Leadership & Management:
* Deputise for the Nursery Manager in their absence, taking full responsibility for the nursery's smooth and efficient operation.
* Support the Nursery Manager in the effective leadership, supervision, and motivation of the nursery team.
* Assist with staff recruitment, induction, training, performance management, and appraisals.
* Mentor and support junior staff, fostering a culture of continuous professional development.
* Contribute to the strategic planning and development of the nursery.
* Early Years Practice & Curriculum:
* Oversee and ensure the consistent implementation of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework, promoting a broad and balanced curriculum.
* Monitor and evaluate the quality of teaching and learning, ensuring children's individual needs are met and progress is tracked effectively.
* Lead by example in delivering high-quality, inspiring activities and learning experiences for children aged [e.g., 0-5 years].
* Ensure all safeguarding and child protection policies and procedures are rigorously followed.
* Compliance & Administration:
* Ensure the nursery operates in full compliance with all Ofsted requirements, safeguarding regulations, and health and safety legislation.
* Assist with administrative tasks, including record-keeping, rota management, and admissions.
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date children's records and learning journeys.
* Parent & Community Engagement:
* Foster strong, positive relationships with parents and carers, ensuring effective communication about children's progress and well-being.
* Address parent queries and concerns professionally and promptly.
* Promote a welcoming and inclusive environment for all families.
* Ensure a safe, clean, and stimulating environment for all children and staff.
* Oversee risk assessments and implement corrective actions as necessary.
* Manage challenging behaviour effectively and promote positive behaviour management strategies.
Qualifications & Experience:
* Minimum Level 3 Early Years qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 3, Cache Level 3 Diploma in Childcare and Education, Early Years Educator).
* Proven experience in a senior role within an Early Years setting (e.g., Room Leader, Senior Practitioner).
* Demonstrable knowledge and understanding of the EYFS framework, safeguarding and child protection procedures, and Ofsted requirements.
* Valid Paediatric First Aid certificate.
* Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
* Experience as a Deputy Manager or in a similar leadership position.
* Knowledge of current best practices in early years education.
