Main duties of the job

The Housing Support Grant (HSG) is a project supporting clients with drug and alcohol issues who are also at risk of losing their tenancy. To be eligible, clients need to be in temporary, supported, emergency or private rented accommodation.You will be a resilient and committed individual who has an understanding of the problems faced by individuals finding themselves homeless or in insecure accommodation.We work alongside the community teams and with external agencies to support our clients to prevent homelessness. The focus is to support in any way that the client needs to help them remain accommodated.

We are part of a large integrated drug and alcohol service working with some of Cornwall's most excluded and disadvantaged people. Successful candidates will also work alongside in-house services which include community, clinical, criminal justice and a residential rehabilitation facility. 1. Demonstrable experience working in the fields of outreach, housing/homelessness health, social care, criminal justice, domestic abuse, or another specialist setting
2. Successful track record of working with substance misuse clients
3. Resilient and the ability to prioritise and work under pressure
4. Knowledge and understanding of health and safety, including assessing high-risk situations for service users
5. Excellent verbal and written communication skills
6. Be IT competent
7. Knowledge and understanding of homelessness, assessment, care planning and key working
8. Ability to build effective relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders
9. Ability to work effectively as a team player
10. Full UK Driving Licence and own transport with business use added to insurance policy (the role will involve travelling to a variety of centres across Cornwall)
11. Ability to work flexible and unsociable hours as required
