Position
Charge Nurse based within our Community CAMHS pan-Ayrshire team. Permanent basis. This post will be based within the North Ayrshire locality team at Ayrshire Central Hospital.
Hours
36 hours per week. From 1 April 2026, the working week for NHS Agenda for Change staff in Scotland will be reduced. Full‑time hours will reduce from 37 to 36 hours (pro rata for part‑time staff) without loss of earnings.
UK Driving Licence
A UK driving licence is essential for this role.
What you will do
You will work closely with the CAMHS team leaders in providing mental health assessment, risk assessment and evidence‑based treatment to children and young people with a variety of mental health and neuro‑developmental presentations.
You will provide supervision to band 5 nurses and be responsible for supporting band 5’s learning, development and attendance in collaboration with the Team Leader in keeping with Turas Appraisals and Promoting attendance policy.
Knowledge, training and/or experience required
You should have evidence of significant post registration professional practice and experience at band 5 level with a first level RMN or RNLD qualification, in CAMHS or relevant community mental health/Learning disability setting to undertake and fulfil the key areas for this post.
We are looking for candidates who are enthusiastic, motivated and who provide treatment to young people who may have multiple and complex needs. You must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills and have experience in risk assessment and risk management.
You should have knowledge of mental health legislation, Child protection process, GIRFEC, One for Scotland policy and the CAMHS Specification.
You will be supported by the Team Leader in undertaking this role.
