Contract Type: Part-time, permanent
Specific Hours: hours per week - shift pattern
Unqualified Basic Salary: £, pro rata (£, FTE) per annum with a potential to earn up to £, with sleep-in shifts

North Lakes Children’s Services is a well-established local provider of residential care and education for boys aged -. We aim to improve resilience, self-esteem, and abilities of all young people we work with.
As a Residential Support Worker, you are expected to be “strong, committed, and passionate”. You will be a role model, a listening ear, approachable, and potentially inspire and significantly impact a young person’s life, helping them make positive choices and develop their potential. You will promote, support, and facilitate the creation of “happy memories” and enjoy engaging with the young people.
We are seeking permanent Support Workers with a warm, approachable manner who believe they can make a difference in the recovery of young people from early life experiences.
Main Duties
Each home has detailed shift planners, diaries, and handover documents outlining specific daily duties. These vary between term-time and holiday periods. During term-time, duties include:
* Supporting daily routines: getting up, personal hygiene, meals, school runs, activities
* Supporting room cleanliness, life skills, independence, socialization, and bedtime routines
* Attending medical and other appointments
* Supporting activity plans
* Completing day sheets and working on targets with the boys
* Completing all daily paperwork
* Conducting daily room checks and house cleaning tasks
* Handling food shopping, meal prep, kitchen hygiene, laundry duties
* Performing checks such as COSHH, fire, and car checks
* Building relationships with families, noting special dates, planning family contacts
Your role also includes being a Keyworker, building strong bonds, showing warmth and empathy, and creating special opportunities for the young people.
Requirements
* Flexibility in availability due to shift work, including sleep-in nights
* Understanding issues faced by young people in care
* Qualifications: Diploma in Residential Childcare, Children and Young People's Workforce, NVQ Level in Health & Social Care, or willingness to work towards one
* Excellent communication and listening skills
* Willingness to learn and work as part of a team
* Willing to undertake an enhanced DBS check (paid by us)
* Experience with EBD, social/residential work, or youth work is advantageous
* Full, clean UK driving license and flexibility to cover other homes as needed
