PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: Between £74,000 - £84,000

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
Join an area looking to help everyone at the BBC make data informed decisions. Our teams are looking to equip content creators and product makers with the information they need to serve millions of people in our mission to inform, educate and entertain. You will be a Software Engineering team lead managing a team of full-stack engineers to build products and tools aimed at helping our teams understand our data estate and increase the amount of experimentation here at the BBC. You will be leading the engineering approach for your team, ensuring we are building with quality, speed and consistency in mind. You will be working with peers in other disciplines and our stakeholders from around the business to make sure we are building the right things for our teams.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:
- Lead a diverse team of engineers, supporting their careers and growth.

- Lead technical discussions and decision making in our day-to-day work
- Ensure the team is working towards innovation and user-focused outcomes for your product.
- Collaborating with your discipline peers and stakeholders to plan, organise and shape the future direction of your team, and their work.
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
- Experience of leading a software engineering team in a line management capacity.
- Hands on experience of Javascript/Typescript, Node, React for front end development.
- Hands on experience of AWS cloud technologies such as Lambda, EC2, API Gateway, SQS, SNS, S3 or equivalent.
- Experience of setting engineering best practices and culture for software engineering teams.
- Experience of managing products in an operational setting, ensuring observability/testing best practices.
- Experience of hiring and growing a diverse team.
DESIRED BUT NOT REQUIRED:
- Experience with Next.JS
- Experience with technologies such as Airflow, EMR, Redis, Postgres
- Experience of working within a Data Platform team.
- Experience of analytics, tracking or experimentation.
