About the Role
Our client, a global development company, is seeking a Materials/Dev Scientist to work on an innovative project involving sustainable power (solid state), which could be a game changer across industries. The successful candidate will be heavily involved in this project within the innovation centre of excellence.
Responsibilities
1. Perform experimental and technical investigations using techniques such as XRF, XRD, SEM, ICP OES, and Ionic Conductivity.
2. Design laboratory tests and protocols to validate product specifications or process validation, overseeing testing as needed.
3. Interpret and report test results to inform design decisions.
4. Lead full-scale up (100kg batch production).
5. Select, specify, and acquire equipment and consumables related to technical activities.
6. Schedule maintenance and calibration of equipment.
7. Conduct risk assessments for new tests and equipment.
8. Coordinate with external suppliers for proving trials.
9. Identify the need for technological changes.
10. Apply stage gate methodology to projects.
11. Participate in safety initiatives like ThinkSAFE and Take 5.
12. Develop and maintain intellectual property within confidentiality constraints.
Candidate Profile
PhD in Materials Science, Chemistry, or a related STEM field, or significant industry experience with a BSc, BEng, MSc. Experience with ceramics is highly preferred. Skills include proficiency with XRF, XRD, SEM, ICP OES, ionic conductivity, and scale-up experience (both small and large scale). Knowledge of Stage Gate methodology and other project management tools is also desirable.
