Location: UK Defence Academy, Shrivenham, Swindon, SN6 8LA
Contract: Permanent, Full time, 37 hours per week
Working hours: Mon–Thu 08:00–16:30 and Fri 08:00–13:30
Salary Band 6 – £27,572.50
About the role
Serco is contracted to provide Total Facilities Management to the Defence Academy of the UK (DA). This establishment supports post-graduate education and training for members of the UK Armed Forces and MOD Civil Servants. Serco acts as the MOD’s primary link with UK universities and international military educational institutions.
Role purpose: To be the focal point for all Families at Shrivenham Station, addressing issues related to living in a Service environment and advising on local community, welfare, and social activities. The post holder will line manage the Serco Welfare Team, participate in recruitment, allocate work, monitor absences and performance, and oversee wellbeing and learning and development requirements, including annual Performance Reviews. Coaching and mentoring of colleagues is also part of the role.
Key Accountabilities
* Deputise and carry out ad hoc tasks for the Shrivenham Station Families & Welfare Officer/Warrant Officer as required.
* Coordinate work of the Lead Administrator.
* Arrange/assist with functions and events including Coffee Mornings, Charity Events, and Meet and Greet events (annual and ad hoc).
* Update Welfare property registers and conduct annual returns.
* In liaison with the Station Welfare Officer, allocate Welfare housing, handle bedding requests, raise bills, take payments for house use, and report maintenance issues via the Self-Service System. This may include light cleaning of properties.
* Perform reception duties and act as the focal point for all visitors to the JCC.
* Assist with movement of furniture and welfare stores within the JCC.
* Liaise with volunteers and agencies operating from the Jubilee Community Centre.
* Line Manager duties and responsibilities for the Families and Welfare Lead Administrator, including annual PDR and Absence Manager Reporting.
Requirements
* Ability to demonstrate leadership skills, including coaching and mentoring, training, and performance management.
* Previous Administration experience.
* PC literate with MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
* UK Driving Licence; requirement to use MOD-provided vehicles.
