Airbus is seeking an innovative Lead Electrical Design Engineer to design and maintain cutting-edge ground-based test rigs ensuring the safety and performance of aircraft worldwide. Location: Filton, Bristol. Type: Full time. Travel: Occasional within the UK and internationally. Security clearance: BPSS check (including a criminal record check). 60% of your working week must be office based.

Responsibilities
* Architect the Future: Lead a multi-disciplinary team to conceptualize, design, and integrate complex avionic test rigs for current and next-generation aircraft programs.
* Own the Full Lifecycle: Translate customer needs into technical specifications and drive projects through Preliminary and Critical Design Reviews to final validation and handover.
* Ensure Ultimate Safety: Ensure designs comply with HSE regulations and Airbus standards by conducting risk assessments.
* Drive Innovation: Shape the technology roadmap by evaluating and implementing capabilities such as Test Automation and Digital Twin platforms.
* Lead Operations & Partnerships: Act as the primary technical contact for external suppliers and the senior escalation point for complex electrical issues on legacy infrastructure.
About You
* BEng/MEng in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or Mechatronics (or similar) with hands-on lab experience.
* Proficiency in AutoCAD or equivalent tools for circuit and panel design.
* Experience leading projects or technical leadership roles.
* Strong foundation in testing and understanding how analog and digital hardware interfaces communicate with software.
* Avionics & Instrumentation: Familiarity with aerospace data protocols (ARINC 429, CAN, AFDX) and experience defining sensors and managing signal integrity.
* Experience writing and reviewing complex design documentation; knowledge of Requirements-Based Engineering or Configuration Management is a plus.
