Bromley Heath Infant School is looking to appoint a dedicated, skilled and nurturing EYFS teaching assistant from September 2026. This is a fixed term contract until 31st August 2027 but there is a strong possibility that this will be extended.

27.5 hours a week. 5 days a week: 8:45-12; 1-3:15

We are looking for a consistent adult within the team and are therefore cannot offer flexibility around these hours.

The successful applicant must –

•be able to use their own initiative and facilitate learning in the moment

•be able to champion and celebrate children’s achievements

•be committed to work in, and contribute, to their team

•have an ability to model our school values (the ‘Bromley Bears’) and ‘Three Golden Rules’

•have an ability to adapt practice/ approaches to meet the needs of the children and be reflective in their own practice

•be able to support children with a range of additional needs effectively

Please note that experience of working in EYFS; understanding of the expectations and foundation stage curriculum, and experience of play-based learning through continuous provision would be a strong advantage.

The post will also involve: -

•Assisting the class teacher and other professionals to deliver teaching and learning, including supporting whole class or leading small group interventions; 1:1 social and emotional or academic interventions e.g. phonics interventions throughout the day, and modelling and supporting with positive behaviour.

•Weekly EYFS team meetings (paid back through time in lieu) and termly teaching assistant meetings (within the school day)

•Liaising with teachers, parents and potentially outside agencies.

•Working effectively in a professional team creating consistency for children.

•Having high expectations for all children.

•Delivering ‘Read, Write, Inc’ phonics scheme interventions; experience in this would be an advantage.

The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the safety and welfare of children and young people. All staff and volunteers are expected to share this commitment and all appointments will be subject to appropriate vetting, including an enhanced DBS disclosure check.

Some roles may need to comply with the ‘Childcare Act 2006’ and the ‘Childcare (Disqualification) Regulations 2009’ where additional disclosure of information will be required.
