Overview:
Restorative Nursing Assistant Primary Job Function
The primary purpose of this position is to carry out restorative nursing functions. Restorative care plans are developed based on the individual needs of each resident to help them maintain or improve their highest possible functioning level while in our care.
Responsibilities:
Restorative Nursing Assistant Primary Responsibilities
* Perform and document care assignments, routine skills, and procedures to ensure quality resident care, including:
* Providing direct restorative care and delegated therapy tasks accurately, safely, and promptly;
* Participating in restorative care programs (e.g., range of motion, walking);
* Assisting the Restorative Nurse with bowel and bladder programs and scheduled toileting;
* Notifying the Charge Nurse/Restorative Nurse of resident progress or refusal to participate for assessment and care plan adjustments;
* Making a second attempt to provide services if a resident initially refuses or is unavailable;
* Monitoring equipment needs and reporting to therapy or the restorative nurse;
* Serving as a resource and team member to other nursing assistants to deliver restorative care;
* Participating in QA programs related to restorative functions;
* Understanding and assisting in the interpretation of rehabilitation and restorative nursing programs to staff;
* Documenting in medical records according to facility policies, including listing residents on restorative programs, following care plan directives, and recording service provision;
* Maintaining safety, infection control, and cleanliness, including the proper use of protective devices, adhering to emergency protocols, reporting abuse, and following infection control procedures;
* Performing routine cleaning and ensuring work areas are sanitary;
* Performing additional duties as assigned by the Restorative Nurse, including general CNA responsibilities.
Qualifications:
Restorative Nursing Assistant Qualifications:
o High school diploma or GED, unless under a student permit;
o Certification by the Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH) as a CNA in good standing. CNAs from other states may work for 120 days while awaiting Indiana certification. CNA students not yet certified may also work for 120 days pending certification.
