Senior EAL Consultant – Hardman Centre, Stockport
Location: Hardman Centre, Stockport; 30 hours part‑time, term‑time only pro‑rata working pattern.
Your Role
We are seeking to appoint a passionate Senior EAL Consultant to join our vibrant and highly regarded EAL service. You will work closely with the Head of Service to lead a team of EAL Consultants and collaborate with schools across Stockport to support them in delivering outstanding inclusive EAL practice across all key stages, and support the wider equality and diversity agenda. In a leading advisory role you will develop EAL best practice across schools and improve outcomes for EAL learners, supervise the development and delivery of training and CPD to schools and other professionals, and support the team to increase capacity among school staff through guidance and advice.
About You
Candidates should have qualified teacher status (QTS) and a proven track record of working successfully with EAL children to ensure they receive a high‑quality education and achieve positive outcomes. You should have experience of effective team leadership, be highly capable of coaching and giving quality professional supervision to colleagues, and have recent and significant experience of EAL learners and implementing EAL best practice across school and classroom settings. You will understand the complexities and sensitivities of working with children and families from varied cultural and linguistic backgrounds, including refugees and those seeking asylum. You should be confident delivering training and be a confident communicator capable of working strategically with schools and leaders to shape outstanding EAL practice, and must have excellent interpersonal skills and be a team player. We welcome candidates with EYFS, primary and/or secondary experience.
