About the role As a Junior Costs Draftsperson/Paralegal in our costs team, you will play a key supporting role in the management and conduct of legal costs work. You will have the opportunity to work with an enviable client base, including many leading corporates, insurers and major brokers. The work is some of the most varied and complex available and you will gain exposure across civil and commercial litigation as well as international arbitration. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: • Managing a varied caseload of costs-related matters • Liaising directly with clients to obtain instructions and provide regular updates • Drafting costs budgets, bills of costs, Points of Dispute, costs schedules and other related documentation • Conducting legal research and preparing bespoke client advices • Managing the costs process from inception to resolution, including negotiations, assessments, and settlements • Maintaining accurate records using case management systems and online trackers. You should have a keen eye for detail and the ability to use your initiative. A strong academic background is desirable, and you may have a degree in law or be working towards a legal qualification such as CILEX. Some previous experience as a paralegal in costs or costs draftsperson, is essential; in addition full training and support will be provided.
