The Role: School Payroll and Finance Administrator - Tower Hamlets
As a School Payroll and Finance Administrator, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth and accurate operation of a Primary Schools payroll system and financial processes. You will be responsible for managing monthly payroll, maintaining financial records, supporting budget monitoring, and assisting with reporting to senior leadership and external stakeholders.
You’ll be the go-to person for payroll queries and financial data, working closely with the School Business Manager and other administrative staff. This is a varied and rewarding role, offering the opportunity to contribute directly to the efficient running of our school.
A School Payroll and Finance Administrator will be expected to:
* Manage the end-to-end monthly payroll process for school staff
* Ensure compliance with HMRC, pension, and employment legislation
* Maintain accurate financial records, process invoices, and manage petty cash
* Prepare monthly and year-end reports for leadership and governors
* Reconcile bank statements and monitor cash flow
* Raise purchase orders, process payments, and track expenditure
* Liaise with external agencies such as the local authority, auditors, and pension providers
* Support with budget setting, monitoring, and forecasting
* Update and maintain staff contracts and salary records
* Assist with audit preparation and ensure financial procedures follow school policies
Qualifications and requirements - School Payroll and Finance Administrator - Tower Hamlets
* Experience working on SIMS or SAGE
* Experienced in payroll and financial administration (preferably in an educational setting)
* Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
* A confident communicator with a positive and professional approach
* Able to work independently and as part of a team
