We are seeking an enthusiastic, nurturing, and experienced Year 1 Teacher to join a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Basingstoke, starting as soon as possible. This is an excellent opportunity for a teacher who is passionate about Key Stage 1 and enjoys supporting pupils as they transition from the Early Years Foundation Stage into structured learning. As a Year 1 Teacher, you will plan, deliver, and assess lessons across the Key Stage 1 curriculum. You will help pupils build confidence, independence, and a love for learning, ensuring that every child receives the support they need to succeed academically, socially, and emotionally. Key Responsibilities Plan, deliver, and assess high-quality lessons across the Year 1 curriculum Deliver engaging literacy, numeracy, and foundation subject lessons Support pupils transitioning from EYFS to Key Stage 1 Differentiate learning to meet the needs of all pupils, including SEND and EAL Promote independence, confidence, and positive learning behaviours Maintain a structured, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment Track pupil progress and maintain accurate assessment records Work collaboratively with teaching assistants and KS1 colleagues Communicate effectively with parents and carers regarding pupil progress Contribute to staff meetings, CPD sessions, and whole-school initiatives Support school events, enrichment activities, and extra-curricular opportunities Ensure safeguarding and child protection procedures are followed at all times The Ideal Candidate The successful candidate will: Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) Have experience teaching Key Stage 1, ideally Year 1 Demonstrate excellent classroom management and organisational skills Be nurturing, reflective, and adaptable Show a strong commitment to inclusion, safeguarding, and pupil wellbeing Work collaboratively as part of a professional, supportive team The school is located in Basingstoke, with excellent transport links and a supportive local community.
