Key Responsibilities
* Lead the day–to–day financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, payroll, accounts payable/receivable, and financial reporting.
* Prepare monthly management accounts and financial statements in accordance with applicable regulations.
* Liaise with external auditors, banks, HMRC, and other stakeholders.
* Advise the senior leadership team and governors on financial performance and strategic planning.
* Oversee fee billing and credit control, working closely with the admissions and bursary teams.
* Manage and develop a small finance team with a focus on high standards, accuracy, and service.
* Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements.
Person Specification
* Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
* Significant experience in financial management, ideally in an educational or not–for–profit setting.
* Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively across departments.
* Proficient in financial systems and Excel; experience with Sage or similar accounting software preferred.
* Meticulous attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem–solving.
Desirable:
* Experience within the independent school sector.
* Familiarity with charity accounting (SORP).
* Knowledge of school fee structures and pupil–related finance.
