As a PMLD Teacher, you will deliver bespoke learning programmes tailored to meet the unique needs of each student. Working closely with a multidisciplinary team, you will ensure the educational, emotional, and physical development of learners, enabling them to achieve their full potential.
Key Responsibilities of a PMLD Teacher:
1. Plan and deliver highly personalised lessons, incorporating sensory and therapeutic approaches.
2. Use a range of communication methods, including Makaton, PECS, or AAC, to engage and support students.
3. Monitor and assess progress, maintaining detailed records and adjusting plans to meet individual needs.
4. Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, therapists, and families to provide a holistic approach to education.
5. Promote independence, life skills, and self-confidence in students.
The successful PMLD Teaching candidate will have:
6. Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent qualification.
7. Experience working with children or young people with PMLD.
8. Knowledge of strategies and resources for supporting students with sensory and physical disabilities.
9. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a patient and empathetic approach.
10. Resilience and creativity in adapting to the unique challenges of working with PMLD students.
11. Up to date Safeguarding, Prevent, and Professional Boundaries training (or be willing to undertake it).
