ROLE OVERVIEW //

We are recruiting for a Knowledge & Information Officer (KIO) to join our Knowledge & Learning Department (K&L) on a permanent basis.

The K&L Department is responsible for delivering a range of services to support the firm’s lawyers and Business Services teams, and the successful candidate will play a key role in managing knowledge, answering research enquiries, delivering blended learning, and ensuring that the firm’s lawyers are kept up to date of developments affecting their areas of expertise. The successful candidate will also be involved in project work and will work closely and collaboratively with the central Research & Information team.

The K&L department comprises the following sub-teams – Information Services, Learning & Development (L&D), and Knowledge Management Systems and the KIO role sits in the Information Services part of the team.

This is a graduate level role suitable for those with, or undertaking, a relevant post-graduate qualification. It will support a range of practice groups across the firm (depending on need) and will report into one of the team’s Knowledge & Information Managers.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES //

The key responsibilities of this role are set out below and there may be others which are not listed. You may be required on occasion to work outside our normal working hours of 9:30am to 5:30pm.

Knowledge management

* Collecting, summarising, and publishing internal legal knowhow onto the firm’s Knowledge Management database.
* Developing, maintaining, and publishing content to relevant parts of the firm’s intranet.
* Attending, and proactively contributing to meetings and training sessions, maintaining a record of relevant matters.

Current awareness

* Delivering comprehensive current awareness to lawyers to keep them updated of developments affecting their areas of expertise.
* Monitoring legal, regulatory, and market developments.
* Proactively tracking legislative changes, case law and other materials of interest and making these available in a timely manner.

Research & Enquiries Management

* Answering a broad range of queries and providing a comprehensive and timely research service to groups on legal, commercial and market topics.

Training and knowledge sharing

* Developing, organising, and delivering regular training sessions on the firm’s Knowledge Management system, and on external legal and business resources.
* Attendance at, and proactive participation in, relevant group meetings, including delivering “bite sized” training sessions as and when required.
* Responding to ad hoc requests for deskside training on specific resources.

Project work

* Involvement in project work including support for K&L and practice group projects.

Resource support

* Keep up to date with developments in research sources (particularly electronic databases).
* Help to evaluate products and resources, ensuring that they continue to support firmwide needs.
* Aid in the evaluation of new products and services, flagging with the Head of Information Services and group KLs, any that will add value to practice groups (or that may plug an existing gap).
* Work collaboratively with relevant K&L stakeholders to support new product trials

CANDIDATE PROFILE //

Candidates for this position must have:

* This is a generalist role supporting a range of practice groups across the firm dependent on business need, so a flexible approach is essential.
* An understanding of legal practice or experience of working in a legal or other professional services setting would be an advantage but is not essential as full on the job training will be provided.
* Candidates should be confident and articulate communicators, with an ability to work with a wide range of people at all levels.
* Have an ability to present clearly and succinctly in a variety of communication settings and styles.
* Be a good team player, offering support to colleagues and sharing information and best practice freely.
* Have experience of designing and delivering, or a willingness to design and deliver, training.
* Have excellent attention to detail.
* Be proactive, prepared to take a hands-on approach to managing workload and dealing with conflicting priorities, and using their own initiative.
* Take an active interest in Knowledge & Information related developments, including in the field of AI, legal tech, and innovation.

We welcome applications irrespective of race, colour, ethnic or national origin, disability, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, religion, belief or marital status.
