Performance Nutritionist – Manchester United Womens Academy (Casual)Location: Leigh Sports Village/Carrington Training Complex

The Role:
The Performance Nutritionist will be responsible for driving best-in-class nutrition practices across Academy, Transition, and Loan players. This includes delivering individualised and group-based support, contributing to First Team operations, and working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to enhance performance outcomes and long-term athlete development.
Nutrition Delivery
1. Lead and evolve the Women’s Academy nutrition strategy aligned to long-term athlete development
2. Establish systems to support female athlete health, energy availability, and performance outcomes
3. Deliver individualised nutrition support including assessment, monitoring, and intervention
4. Design and deliver education programmes to promote athlete ownership and behaviour change
5. Conduct and interpret dietary analysis, body composition, and hydration assessments
6. Maintain accurate athlete monitoring systems and detailed records
7. Collaborate with coaches, medical staff, MDT, and catering teams to embed nutrition into daily environments
8. Build relationships with parents/guardians to support holistic player development
9. Support supplement protocols in line with club policy and anti-doping regulations
10. Contribute to a high-performance nutrition culture across the women’s programme
11. Continuously review, innovate, and improve delivery methods
Women’s First Team Integration
12. Provide weekly on-site support at Carrington (minimum two half-days)
13. Assist with day-to-day nutrition practices for the Women’s First Team
14. Support training and matchday nutrition provision
15. Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and performance reviews
16. Ensure alignment between Academy and First Team nutrition standards
Loan & Transition Player Support
17. Design and implement a structured loan nutrition system for players at external clubs
18. Maintain club nutrition standards through remote monitoring and support
19. Deliver structured support for Transition players progressing between squads
20. Conduct regular one-to-one consultations and contribute to MDT reviews
21. Use dietary analysis tools to track progress and inform decisions
22. Identify and manage risks related to training load, lifestyle, and independent living
The Person:
We are looking for someone who has:
23. Experience delivering performance nutrition support in an elite or professional sporting environment
24. Strong knowledge of performance nutrition and sports science principles relevant to football and female athlete health and performance
25. Experience working with youth athletes and team sports environments
26. Proven ability to design and deliver nutrition education programmes
27. Experience implementing and monitoring nutrition strategies to drive behavioural change
28. Experience working within a multidisciplinary team
29. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex information
30. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse groups
31. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
32. Strong organisational and time management skills
33. Good IT and data analysis skills
34. Adaptable, flexible, and able to work under pressure
35. Experience working in football environments (Desirable)
Education and Certification Requirements
36. Undergraduate degree in Nutrition or Dietetics with a postgraduate qualification in a sport/exercise-related discipline
OR
37. Undergraduate degree in Sport & Exercise Science with a postgraduate qualification in Nutrition or Sports Nutrition
38. ISAK certification (Level 1 or above)
39. Registration (or eligibility) with a recognised professional body (e.g. SENr)
40. Level 2 Food Hygiene & Safety certification
41. UK Anti-Doping Clean Sport certification
42. Fluent English (written and verbal)
