Our client, established for almost 40 years and recognized as a market leader in the design, development, manufacture, and distribution of solutions worldwide, is experiencing continued success and strategic growth. They are seeking an experienced Design and Manufacturing Manager to join their dynamic team. This role involves overseeing the design, development, and implementation of manufacturing and assembly process improvements.
Reporting to the Design and Technical Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of manufacturing processes, from design to optimization, ensuring products are manufactured efficiently, cost-effectively, and to high-quality standards in a safe environment. The role includes the daily first-line management of the team. Key responsibilities include:
1. Process Design and Optimization: Developing and implementing efficient manufacturing processes, designing and testing new equipment, identifying opportunities for efficiency and cost reduction, and managing new equipment and automation implementation.
2. Project Management: Managing manufacturing engineering projects, ensuring timely and within-budget delivery, and effectively managing resources.
3. Team Leadership and Management: Leading and mentoring manufacturing engineers and technicians, providing technical guidance.
4. Quality Assurance: Ensuring processes meet quality standards, implementing QC measures, and driving continuous improvement for quality and reliability.
5. Budget Management: Overseeing departmental budgets, including capital and operational costs.
6. Safety and Compliance: Ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards and promoting a safety culture.
7. Continuous Improvement and Lean Manufacturing: Identifying CI opportunities, keeping up with lean manufacturing advancements.
The ideal candidate will have at least an HND or higher in a relevant mechanical engineering, design, or manufacturing discipline, with a minimum of 5 years' experience as a Design and Manufacturing Manager. Skills in 3D CAD (Creo Parametric), SAP, and knowledge of metal manufacturing processes, including ferrous and non-ferrous metals, are advantageous. A full UK driving license is required for site and supplier visits within the UK and abroad.
