Conveyancing - Legal Technical Specialist (Non Client Facing)

Salary: Up to £53,000
Are you a seasoned conveyancing professional who enjoys the technical side of property work but wants to step away from running your own caseload? This role allows you to use your expertise in a new capacity, supporting a busy property team, improving case progression, and ensuring transactions remain compliant and on track.
The Opportunity
You’ll join the department in a specialist support role that does not involve carrying your own caseload. Instead, you’ll act as a technical resource for Conveyancers, stepping in on complex issues, reviewing legal documents, and ensuring that transactions progress efficiently and lawfully.
The work is varied and includes assisting with complex titles, reviewing intricate documentation, handling procedural approvals, and offering guidance on matters that require deeper expertise. During peak periods, such as holiday cover, you’ll also help maintain momentum on live files to prevent delays.
Key Areas of Responsibility
* Provide day‑to‑day technical assistance to Conveyancers handling freehold, leasehold, unregistered, shared ownership, and new build transactions.
* Manage and sign off detailed legal or procedural approvals, particularly on more complicated matters.
* Support the progression of completions and help resolve technical post‑completion issues.
* Monitor pipelines to help the team meet performance metrics and timeframes.
* Manage temporary handovers and ensure continuity of work during busy or holiday periods.
* Maintain thorough, compliant file records that meet regulatory and internal standards.
* Liaise effectively with counterpart solicitors, lenders, brokers, developers, and local authorities.
* Identify risks early and take action to protect clients and the business.
* Work in accordance with professional standards and relevant conveyancing protocols.
* Use internal systems and technology to enhance workflow, accuracy, and efficiency.
* Promote a culture of collaboration, quality, and continuous improvement.
Skills & Experience
* Background in conveyancing with strong experience in leasehold, shared ownership, and new build transactions.
* Confident understanding of the Building Safety Act and related compliance requirements.
* Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise effectively.
* Strong communicator who can simplify complex legal points for colleagues.
* Able to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and maintain accuracy.
* Analytical mindset with solid problem‑solving abilities.
* A proactive, supportive team player who can also work independently when needed.
* Adaptable and comfortable working across a wide range of matters.
