North Lincolnshire Council is recruiting a Technical Officer to work within the Environmental Protection Team. This post provides an excellent opportunity for someone seeking a career supporting the work of a busy Environmental Protection Team.
You will provide technical support to regulate a range of environmental disciplines including:
• Integrated Pollution Prevention & Control (IPPC)
• Contaminated Land Strategy and identification of Contaminated Land
• Air Quality, Noise & Statutory Nuisance
• Development Management and Licensing consultations
This regulatory / enforcement role means you will undertake work to secure compliance with the law for both business and residential premises. You will need well developed interpersonal skills particularly in respect of dealing with conflict and complaints and be able to work in potentially physically demanding environments
This work will require you to organise and undertake monitoring, surveying, sampling and measurement of environmental pollutants and noise. You will also, with appropriate supervision, undertake the day to day operation of our air quality monitoring network and inspect a range of low risk premises/land to secure compliance with legislation.
To apply for this role you will need a relevant degree in a scientific or environmental discipline and a minimum of GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English.
You must have an active interest in pollution control and environmental protection and have good verbal and written communication skills.
The role involves travelling to different locations in North Lincolnshire and a full driving licence and transport is therefore essential.

You will be appointed into this career graded Technical Officer role at Grade 5. The role does present the opportunity for future progression subject to your knowledge, skills and experience and the availability of future vacancies.
