The post is approximately 80% clerical and 20% clinical.
You will prepare and co-ordinate clinics and support the effective smooth running of those
clinics within the Radiotherapy Department. You will assist in clinics with medical and nursing
staff. The post requires you to be compassionate and caring to patients, carers and relatives.
The post requires you book radiotherapy planning scans and schedule radiotherapy
treatments, as required. To work from an electronic patient appointment work-list, to ensure
all patients have the correct information to start treatment on schedule. To cover for reception
staff as required.
The post holder will be required to co-ordinate annual leave with other post
holders, work overtime and participate in out of hours working on bank holidays as required.
Main duties of the job
To establish and maintain good working relationships with the Therapy Radiographers,
Oncologists, nursing staff, secretaries and other staff within the health Board as appropriate;
patients, relatives and carers throughout the radiotherapy treatment journey; external contacts
relevant to the work of the South West Wales Cancer Centre.
To demonstrate effective communication skills, providing and receiving complex information
orally, in writing and electronically, to patients and their relatives or carers regarding radiotherapy
related processes.
To communicate complex and confidential information effectively with all healthcare professionals
involved with the patients care, regarding radiotherapy related processes.
To understand and use relevant administrative systems and procedures, including Mosaiq, Welsh
PAS, Welsh Clinical Portal, Oracle, I-Fit, Chemo-care, Rad Centre, transport booking systems, HL7
Interface, e-mail and Teams.
To gain basic knowledge of medical terminology, specific to cancer and radiotherapy. Previous
experience of working in a healthcare environment is beneficial.
To maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
