I am excited to be supporting an ambitious local authority who are seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Corporate Finance to lead a high-performing finance team. This is a pivotal role within the organisation’s senior leadership structure, offering the opportunity to shape financial strategy and ensure robust financialernance during a period of transformation and modernisation.
Your new role
As Head of Corporate Finance, you will be responsible for:
1. Leading the Corporate Finance function, including Financial Accounting, Capital and Treasury Management.
2. Overseeing the production of the Council’s Statement of Accounts and ensuringpliance with CIPFA and statutory requirements.
3. Managing a balance sheet of approximately £800m in assets and liabilities.
4. Developing and implementing Capital and Treasury Management Strategies.
5. Providing strategic financial advice to senior leadership and elected members.
6. Driving innovation, continuous improvement, and financial efficiency across the organisation.
7. Leading a team of approximately 7 staff, fostering a culture of performance, accountability, and inclusivity.
What you'll need to succeed
8. CCAB qualified accountant with significant post-qualification experience.
9. Proven track record of senior financial leadership within a large,plex organisation—ideally within the public sector.
10. Strong technical knowledge of localernment finance, capital and treasury management, and financial reporting standards.
11. Excellent interpersonal andmunication skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
12. Demonstrated ability to lead change, manage risk, and deliver results in a politically sensitive environment.
