Job Title: Senior Buyer
Contract Type: Permanent, Full-Time
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 5:00pm

About the Role
We are looking for a commercially focused and highly capable Senior Buyer to join our Procurement team and lead the delivery of medium-term procurement strategies across a defined sub-category. You will manage supplier relationships, mitigate risks, and drive sustainable commercial value to support both our client and our customers.
This is a high-impact role where you'll influence stakeholders across the business and externally to deliver results aligned with our strategic procurement objectives.
Key Responsibilities

Lead the assigned sub-category with expert market and product knowledge, providing thought leadership both internally and externally.

Own and implement the medium-term procurement strategy, ensuring alignment with business goals and customer requirements.

Manage sub-category risk plans and work with stakeholders to ensure effective risk mitigation and contractual compliance.
*
Take full accountability for sub-category pricing, tracking financial performance and maintaining the live tracker.
*
Deliver measurable commercial value through sourcing decisions and supplier negotiations.
*
Build and maintain supplier relationships with clear performance measures and continuous improvement targets.
*
Develop and lead robust sub-category improvement plans aligned with internal stakeholders.
*
Support crisis management activity where necessary, ensuring timely communication and resolution.
*
Work closely with Technical teams to manage product or supplier changes.
*
Coach and develop any direct reports in line with leadership behaviours.
*
Ensure sourcing strategies align with the Responsible Sourcing Policy.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will bring:

Significant experience in a procurement or buying role, ideally within the food manufacturing sector.
*
Strong commercial acumen, with excellent negotiation, communication, and influencing skills.
*
A solid grasp of procurement strategy, contract law, commodity tracking, and supplier performance management.
*
CIPS qualification or equivalent professional experience.
*
Proven ability to analyse financial and commercial data, and translate insight into actionable plans.
*
Experience in managing change, working under pressure, and leading in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
