Salary: £90-£105 per day (depending on experience)
A primary school in Rochdale is seeking a dedicated KS2 SEN Learning Support Assistant to join their team in September. The role involves working with children who have Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, Autism and ADHD, where strong behaviour management and a calm, consistent approach are essential.
Key Responsibilities
* Supporting children in KS2 with additional needs, both on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
* Managing and de-escalating challenging behaviour using positive behaviour strategies
* Helping pupils to stay focused, engaged and regulated throughout the school day
* Implementing personalised learning strategies and supporting EHCP targets
* Working closely with the class teacher, SENCO and external agencies to provide a joined-up approach
What We're Looking For
* Experience working with children who present with challenging behaviour
* Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure
* Knowledge of strategies such as de-escalation, structured routines and positive reinforcement
* Resilient, patient and empathetic with a genuine commitment to inclusion
* Team Teach training (or similar) is desirable but not essential
